Power Restored to Residents in Hobbs

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - The power is back on for most residents in Hobbs.

Officials will XCEL Energy tell NewsWest 9 most of the power was restored around one a.m. on Saturday morning.

In all, about 1,000 people were affected by the outage in the northern part of the city, which lasted almost six hours.

Right now, crews think the outage might have due to a pole fire.

Officials say dusty weather and moisture gunks up the insulators, which could lead to fires.

Crews have fixed the pole and power for the most part has been restored.
