Hobbs Police Investigating Afternoon Shooting

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - New details about an afternoon shooting in Hobbs on Thursday.

Police have released the names of some of the men involved in the gunfight.

They tell NewsWest 9, 37-year-old Kevin Sanders was hit several times by shots fired on South Jefferson, near Midwest Street.

After police found Sanders, they tracked down 34-year-old Lensdale Cordice about a block away.

They say they found him with a 40-caliber handgun.

Police say it's possible there was a fight between Cordice's family and Sanders on Thursday afternoon.

Cordice is not facing any charges right now.

Police say they're still questioning him and witnesses on the scene.

Sanders was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
