Big Spring Looking to Remove Sludge Buildup from Tank

BIG SPRING - Accumulating sludge seems to be the big problem at the Big Spring water treatment plant.

It's going to take thousands of dollars to fix it, but the cash isn't included in the budget.

The chemical that is used to clean the water, accumulates the sludge at the bottom of the tank. The dirtier the water, the more sludge it creates. Assistant City Manager Todd Darden has asked the city council for $300,000 to hire a company to remove the sludge.

The city council gave the okay and is now taking bids from companies to fix the problem.
