ALPINE - Some sewer lines in Alpine are in bad shape, and recently, the City Council decided it needed to start putting more money toward fixing the problem.

At the City Council's last meeting, the Council decided to spend $91,000 to fix some of the most critical areas.

According to the Alpine Avalanche, sewage has actually backed up into homes as a result of the old sewer lines.

The City's Utility Director said about 160 homes are in what she considers an emergency situation, because the sewer lines to the homes are either not the right size or not made out of the proper materials.

Alpine city leaders will need to continuously update the lines over time.
