Man Burned in Andrews County Oil Field Accident

ANDREWS - A gas pocket inside an oilfield tank ignited Wednesday injuring a man in Andrews County.

The sheriff's office tells us it happened about 15 miles west of Andrews near Highway 181.

Authorities say the man was down in the tank cleaning it when a gas pocket ignited and blew him out of the tank. He suffered second and third degree burns on his arms and back.

He had to be airlifted to a Lubbock hospital. There's no word on his condition. Authorities say no one else was hurt and they're still at the site investigating.
