Shooting Leaves One Dead, Four Injured in West Odessa

WEST ODESSA - Two people have been arrested after a shooting in West Odessa that left one dead and four others injured.

The Ector County Sheriff's Office says it happened just before 4:00 Sunday morning in the 6200 block of West 26th.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found multiple gunshot victims and saw a vehicle leaving the area.

Officers pursued the vehicle, which then wrecked out at 56th and Angus Street when it struck a guy wire. Guy wires are typically used on communications towers.

20-year-old Rafael Alvarez Jr. and 20-year-old Sunny Hignojos were both arrested. Hignojos has been charged with Murder and Evading in a vehicle. Alvarez has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon/Family Violence.

18-year-old Jaime Morales was killed in the shooting. Four others were taken to Medical Center Hospital for gunshot wounds. All of the victims are 18 to 20-years-old. Three of shooting victims have been released from Medical Center while one remains hospitalized.
