ECTOR COUNTY - A major break for Oilfield Theft Investigators.

A handful of people are behind bars charged with stealing nearly a million dollars worth of copper.

The Ector County Sheriff's Department says they've just brushed the surface with these arrests.

All but one of the seven people they arrested are behind bars at the Ector County Detention Center.

Each of the seven suspects were slapped with felony charges for alleged theft of copper wire and damages totaling more than $900,000. The Sheriff's Office says there will likely be even more arrests.

The Sheriff's Department teamed up with the Oilfield Task Force in a 2 month long investigation. The group's bonds are set, but one of them; Ruben Lara is already out.

There's no word on where the thefts supposedly happened.
