NEW MEXICO - Work will soon start on a project that will power thousands of homes across southeast New Mexico.
This month, XCEL Energy and Sun-Edison announced a project to bring five photovoltaic solar installations to Lea and Eddy Counties.
In total, the panels will generate enough power for more than 10,000 homes in its first full year of operation.
Construction is set to start soon with the system scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2011.
