EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - The fate of three Eunice firefighters was decided on Monday night, after a theft scandal NewsWest 9 first reported last month.
The only problem, no one's saying just yet how they've been punished.
Five Eunice firefighters were accused of stealing a radar detector from a wreck site while on the job earlier this month.
On Monday, City Manager Curtis Schrader made a decision concerning the fate of the three men employed by the city - Fire Chief Ron Grogan, and Firefighters Danny Cueto and John Dudley.
On Monday night behind closed doors, the City Manager discussed his decision with the Eunice City Council and got their feedback.
"As a result of our special City Council meeting this evening, the council has instructed me not to publicly state what that decision is until I have had a chance to notify the three employees of what that decision is," Schrader said. "Then a public statement will be issued."
Schrader says his decision does not include the other two men involved in the scandal - Dustin Lord and Fernando Espino - because they were volunteer firefighters.
The City Manager said he expects to be able to contact the three men affected within the week and then make his decision public.
