PECOS - The City of Pecos has found a temporary solution to a long-term problem.

They decided to re-vamp the old police station, and turn it into an emergency home for the senior center.

You may remember, the old facility fell into serious disrepair forcing the city to shut it down until they could fix it up or build a new one.

Pecos city crews started remodeling the old police station this week.

The seniors themselves had the final say in where their building would be constructed.

They picked the police station hoping for a quick-fix.

"It's very important. Our seniors are just like our young people. They're very important. You don't have a future without a past, and our seniors have our past. They are the ones who established this city, paid the taxes, and got us to where we are today," Pecos Mayor Richard Alligood, said.

Alligood says the temporary center will be ready to go in the next two months.
