NewsWest 9 has just learned Clayton Williams has filed a lawsuit against the Mayor of Fort Stockton.
Clayton Williams has filed a slander case against the Mayor after his statements put the Williams' Company in a bad light.
Right now, the Fort Stockton Mayor says he doesn't want to release too many details, but he confirmed the suit and says the City of Fort Stockton plans to use the 1st Amendment as a defense.
This all goes back to a Midland Commissioners Court meeting on Monday.
Fort Stockton officials voiced their concerns to the court about a water deal.
Oilman Clayton Williams wants to sell millions of gallons of water from his property in Pecos County to Midland County.
But Fort Stockton and Pecos county officials say that water supply is vital to their city and county, and by pumping it away to Midland, their ranches will be left dry.
