Midland ISD Elementary School “Shelters in Place”

MIDLAND – One Elementary school in Midland sheltered in place on Wednesday afternoon.

MISD Officials tell NewsWest 9 that a student reported a person was carrying a weapon near Lamar Elementary School.

The campus sheltered in place for about 10 minutes, while District and Midland Police located the suspect.

The suspect did not have a weapon after police completed their investigation.

"Shelter in Place" means the school's exterior doors are locked and monitored and no one is allowed in or out of the building for precautionary purposes.
