MIDLAND - For months, the Midland County Detention Center has had too many prisoners and not enough space, and now officials have been forced partner with another County.

"They will enforce us to move inmates or they will close the jail, and that's the last thing we want to happen," Midland County Sheriff, Gary Painter, said.

Effective Dec. 14th, the Midland County Sheriff's Department will begin transferring inmates to Reagan County which will cost them $50 a day per inmate.

"We have more inmates then beds, and we have 16 inmates in other Counties right now," Painter said.

Sheriff Painter says transferring inmates to other Counties will help at least until future expansion projects are done.
