ODESSA - Black Friday shoppers were out in full force across the Permian Basin Friday morning.

The Target Store in Odessa was full of people looking for good deals before the sun came up. At one time the lines to the registers stretched from the front of the store all the way to the back.

It was a similar scene in Midland as heavy traffic was reported at Best Buy and Kohl's.

The Associated Press reports that the retail industry is headed into the holiday season with more practical goods on the shelves, reflecting shoppers' new mindset.

But with unemployment at 10.2 percent, many analysts think total holiday sales won't be better than last year's.
