FORT STOCKTON - The Fort Stockton City Council said thanks but no thanks to a list of demands from angry citizens on Tuesday night.

The controversy began after local businesses saw huge spikes in their trash bills.

After a few meetings, a group of business owners and citizens made a list of seven demands that included giving back the money from the rate hikes, and booting the city manager, just to name a few.

But the Council said no way to all of them and used slides and charts to explain their earlier decisions.

"We as a community need to work together and need to understand the issues before us. And what is needed to address them. And if we're going to propose a solution to the problems we need to make sure that we support those avenues that we are proposing. If we're not, we don't need to add fuel to the fire," Councilman Billy Espino, said.
