Authorities Raid Alleged Puppy Mill

WEST ODESSA - The Odessa Police Animal Control has shut down an alleged puppy mill.

Authorities received a report of animals without food or water at 12251 Drivers Hall of Fame around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Animal Control Officers found dogs in various stages of neglect that did not have access to food and water. Officers could hear dogs that appeared to be confined in large numbers inside camper trailers on the property.

Around 5:30 p.m. the Ector County Sheriff's Office and Odessa Police Animal Control arrived at the property to execute a warrant. Authorities found 73 animals living in trapped conditions inside the trailers. It appears the owners were using the camper trailers for a puppy mill. Most of the dogs were Chihuahua breeds.

A blind pig was also discovered in a junk pile near the trailers. Two dead dogs were found on the property.

There will be a court hearing next week to take custody of all the animals. The property owners have not contacted Animal Control at this time.
