ECTOR COUNTY - A strong message to those who choose to dump items illegally in Ector County.

If you are caught, you are going to jail.

Environmental Enforcement Officials are cracking down with handcuffs in hand.

"We will arrest people on the spot there will be no more warnings, or citations nine months is long enough to know what illegal and what is not," Oscar Limon Environmental Enforcement Investigator said.

Last February, Limon was hired to focus solely on illegal dumping in Ector County.

"People have called and told me how much they appreciate it. That something is finally being done," Ector County Health Department Director, Gino Solla, said.

"We have issued 60-70 tickets in the past few months," Limon said.

Starting next week, violators won't just be issued a ticket, they could be arrested.

"Anything fewer than five pounds, a cigarette bud, a gum wrapper, it is an arrestable offense and up to my discretions," Limon explained.
