Three Area Schools Shelter in Place Tuesday Morning

MIDLAND/ODESSA - Three area schools sheltered in place Tuesday morning.

Ector Junior High sheltered in place for 45 minutes Tuesday morning after students saw a man with a knife on the school's football field.

ECISD police officers secured the campus and searched for the man, but did not find him. The school went back to normal operations around 9:45 a.m.

In Midland, Lee Freshman High School and Pease Communications/Technology Academy sheltered in place as well.

MISD says United States Marshals were serving a federal warrant in the area. A police officer was placed at each campus as a precaution. Both campuses returned to normal operations around 11:35 a.m.

Shelter in place means the school's exterior doors are locked and no one is allowed in our out of the building.
