Armed Robberies Continue in Big Spring

BIG SPRING - A rash of armed robberies continues in Big Spring. Since October 31st there have been 11 armed robberies throughout the city.

Big Spring Police say the latest robberies happened in the past few days. On Friday two hotels on Interstate 20 were targeted. Police say an armed man knocked on doors at the Motel 6 and the Camalot Inn. When the people inside came to the door the suspect demanded money and then ran.

On Saturday, a possibly armed man walked into Kates Fina Mart on North Lamesa, demanded money and then ran.

On Monday, the Zoom Grocery on Wasson Road and a home on Old Highway 80 were also hit by armed suspects.

"No one has been injured but I'm afraid that if this continues, this could escalate," Sgt. Tony Everett with the Big Spring Police Department, said.

"It's scary, but I'm not scared to work here cause we are all pretty close and we all watch each other," Zoom Grocery Employee, Michele Silva, said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers at 263-TIPS or 264-TIPS.
