MIDLAND - We have a NewsWest 9 traffic alert for drivers in Midland.
The intersection of Garfield and Golf Course will be closed after a part of the roadway was damaged on Saturday afternoon.
At first, many believed a sink hole caused the damage, but the Midland Police Department said the hole is the result of a sewer line wash out.
The hole might look like a pothole to drivers but it’s very deep and city workers said the hole has grown since it was first found.
Motorists are asked to avoid the intersection as drivers will be detoured.
Drivers traveling northbound on Garfield will detour at Princeton, turn north on N Street, and west on Humble.
Drivers traveling southbound on Garfield will detour at Humble, talking Sparks south, and back onto Golf Course Road.
Drivers traveling westbound on Golf Course will detour at N Street, to Humble, then to Sparks and back to Golf Course Road.
Golf Course Road eastbound will detour at Sparks, to Princeton, to N Street, back onto Golf Course Road.
