Odessa Police Investigating Lunch-Time Accident, Suspect Arrested

ODESSA - Odessa Police are investigating after a major accident in Odessa on Friday afternoon.

The accident happened at the intersection of 16th and Grant just after 12:00 on Friday afternoon.

Police say that witnesses saw a 1986 Buick Century run a red light at the intersection hitting a 2006 Toyota Tacoma traveling southbound on Grant.

The accident caused the Tacoma to spin around in the intersection hitting a pole on the drivers side of the vehicle.

The driver of the Buick, 32-year-old Natividad Rodriguez, Jr., ran from scene, and police later arrested the suspect, and transported the driver to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Tacoma, 31-year-old Nathan Stephens was transported to the hospital with serious bodily injuries. He's listed in stable condition.

Rodriguez is charged with failure to stop and render aid and for an unrelated warrant.
