Panhandle Woman Returning Home after Being Kidnapped

LEA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO - A Panhandle woman is headed back home after being kidnapped and taken to Lea County, New Mexico.

The Sheriff's Office says the woman was found unharmed this morning, north of Lovington.

They tell NewsWest 9, her estranged boyfriend took her in Castro County in the Panhandle, against her will, then drove through the night to Lea County.

Authorities say the boyfriend eventually let the woman drive away, then shot himself in the stomach.

He's currently in a Lubbock hospital.
