MIDLAND - A hot property could be coming to West Texas.
Alamo Draft-House Cinemas has set their sites on either Midland or Odessa.
While no official announcement has been made, one Tall City couple has made their decision.
They want the Theatre in Downtown Midland and are willing to do whatever they can to make it happen.
"There are a lot of restuarants in the area, but I think there is still a lot of room for growth," Chris Canon said.
Downtown Midland, the perfect place for an Alamo Draft-House Cinema; at least Chris and Cory Canon think so.
"It would be great to have another reason to come downtown besides Summer Mummers. I think we need something like that Downtown," Cory Canon said.
A few weeks back, Triple Tap Ventures announced plans to bring the cinema-eatery concept to West Texas; movies and a restaurant rolled into one.
The Canons started a petition to get them to come here.
"We love Downtown Midland. There are tons of young professionals that live here and need more entertainment, not just in Midland, but downtown," Cory said.
Since they started, they have more than 1,000 signatures.
"It's overwhelming the comments people say. It's outstanding; they're saying please, please bring it to Midland," Chris said.
They say it's a great start on getting the company's attention.
"I think it's either going to drive them nuts or it's going to have a good impact," Chris said.
NewsWest 9 spoke with Neil Michaelsen; the President of Triple Tap Ventures. He says the company is very excited with the new project.
They haven't picked out a location yet, but Michaelsen says once they do, it will take at least 9 months to get it finished.
