Fire Consumes Storage Building in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. - Fire investigators say there are some red flags in Friday's big blaze in Hobbs.

The fire caused a 2100 square foot warehouse to collapse and took out some power poles.

The Fire Marshal tells NewsWest 9, they're not sure how the blaze started, but they suspect arson.

That's because witnesses reported seeing the fire start on the outside of the building, and the warehouse is only being used for storage.

Workers were forced to evacuate from a nearby business, but later returned around the same time power was restored.

If you saw anything suspicious, call the Hobbs Fire Department or Fire Marshals Office at 575-391-8158.
