FORT STOCKTON- An off-duty Fort Stockton Police Officer was put on paid leave on Thursday after the officer ended up on the wrong end of a call into the Police Department.

Police were called to a home on Young Street just before 9:00 pm Wednesday. According to the incident report, Officer Adam Marquez, who was off duty, and Christopher Irigoyen were found allegedly fist fighting.

The report doesn't go into why the pair was fighting, but two other women were at the home including either a wife or relative of Irigoyen. According the report, alcohol was not a factor and no weapons were used. Irigoyen suffered minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt.

So far, no charges have been filed against either the officer or the other man but Chief Juan Castro says he immediately put Officer Marquez on leave while he sorts through the case. He declined an on camera interview citing the pending investigation but said this is standard protocol in cases like this.

Results of the internal investigation are due back on Tuesday.
