MIDLAND - It's a sport that many would call relaxing, but for a group of wounded soldiers fishing has it's own meaning.

"A lot of guys have testimonials saying it's like therapy," Randy Mounce with Reel Thanx, said.

Reel Thanx is a non-profit organization that is putting together a fishing tournament, giving a group of injured soldiers chance to bond and heal.

"We're bonding and making it a lasting friendship. A lot of these guys haven't been out since they came back. Now with this trip, they'll have a support system," Mounce said.

This is the 2nd year, Reel Thanx has put on a fishing tournament and this year it will take place on October 16th in Del Rio, something that many wounded soldiers and the community is looking forward to.

"It's a good organization. Academy likes to bring the community together and to help our soldiers. It's nice for them to feel wanted and helped," Hiram Rodriguez of Academy Sports and Outdoors, said.

Director's say bringing in these soldiers in for a fishing trip is not only a chance to bond, but another method of therapy.

"We call it porch time. That's where all the guys really open up. It's emotional and wonderful," Mounce said.
