ODESSA - After more than two years of waiting, an accused killer is getting his day in court in Odessa.

Testimony began on Wednesday in the capital murder trial of Brian Swearengin.

Investigators say Swearengin killed Lourdes Medrano back in December of 2006 on the city's southside.

Medrano was found by police beaten to death at her home on Boatwright.

An Ector County Grand Jury indicted Swearengin on capital murder charges a few months later.
