Two People Behind Bars Charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder

MIDLAND - One Midland County and one former Midland County Employee are behind bars after authorities received information about a plot to kill the Road Supervisor for the Midland County Road and Bridge Department.

Officials tell NewsWest 9, former employee Karla Burns and current employee Daryl Martin were brought in and gave voluntary information to corroborate the plot to kidnap and kill the Road Supervisor that they worked for.

Investigators also seized their telephones which had text messages confirming their intent.

A .357 Magnum pistol that was to be used in the crime was also seized.

Both suspects are now in custody and bond has been set at $250,000 each.

The suspects could face up to 99 years in prison for the plot.
