ECTOR COUNTY - Fire officials are investigating after two grassfires sparked up near the Ector County Detention Center.

Fire crews had to close down a portion of Highway 385 in Ector County due to the grassfire, but it has since been reopened.

Mother Nature didn't help local firefighters as high winds continue to blow across West Texas.

Fire officials say the grassfires burned about 400 acres, and damaged a fire truck.

There's no word on what sparked the grassfire.
