LAS CRUCES, NM - Police need your help locating an Odessa man accused of almost choking his girlfriend to death. He's on the run after holding her and her two-month-old daughter hostage for two hours.

Deputies in Las Cruces said no one was killed when 19-year-old Ralph Lira, from Odessa, allegedly attacked his girlfriend. They think he might be on his way back from New Mexico to Odessa, so if you see him, they're asking you to call the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities in New Mexico have a warrant for Lira, after he allegedly held his 26-year-old girlfriend and her baby daughter at bay for about two hours early Sunday Morning. The girlfriend later told Police Lira strangled her while she was holding her daughter.

Lira is now facing numerous charges including Kidnapping in the Second Degree, Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member, Battery Against a Household Member, Interference with Communications, and Criminal Damage to Property.

He is five feet, ten inches tall, with brown hair and green eyes. Authorities also want you to be on the lookout for his pick-up. They said he may be driving his maroon Chevy crew cab 4-door Silverado with Texas license plate 27YSY6.

If anyone has any information about where Ralph Lira might be, call Investigator Bo Nevarez with the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department at 575-639-6533.
