ODESSA - A Republican looking to take over the Attorney General post made a stop in Odessa on Monday.

Ted Cruz spoke to the Ector County Republican Women in Odessa on Monday.

He served as Texas Solicitor General for five years.

That means he was the State's Chief Appellate lawyer.

On Monday, Cruz said he's ready to step up to the plate to take Texas' issues to the national stage.

Attorney General Greg Abbott appointed Cruz to the post in 2003.
