CARLSBAD, NEW MEXICO - A jury has convicted a Carlsbad teen for beating another teen to death.
17-year-old John Gamble was convicted on murder, kidnapping and retaliation against a witness.
Gamble's attorney said they were disappointed by the verdict and will likely file an appeal.
He blamed months of drug use, depression, and run-ins with the law for Gamble attacking 15-year-old Joseph Garcia last fall.
Prosecutors say there was no evidence showing Gamble had been drinking excessively the night Garcia was killed.
Gamble is expected to be sentenced later this week.
