ODESSA - New details on an abandoned baby left at Odessa Regional Medical Center last week, Child Protective Services (CPS) is now looking into the case.

CPS officials say the mother likely thought she was leaving the baby in an appropriate place, but the baby was left alone for hours in an isolated restroom and was suffering from hypothermia.

State Safe Haven Laws require the child to be left in plain sight or physically handed over to someone, so immediate medical care can be given.

We're told the baby was likely born that day and not inside a hospital.

CPS officials say the baby is improving daily and they have already found prospective adoptive parents.

As for the mother, CPS says they will try to find her and will conduct a full investigation, but police say, they won't try to find the mom.
