New Warning Sirens Coming to Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. - Law enforcement in Hobbs, New Mexico will soon have a little bit easier job sending out and testing emergency warning sirens.

Upgrades are coming to the more than 20 sirens in and around Hobbs, which will let authorities test emergency signals silently.

Police say thanks to a Homeland Security grant they'll also be adding 12 new sirens to areas surrounding Hobbs.

Authorities say the upgrade will be a big help as the current sirens are about 20 years old.
