West Texans going out for dove hunting are shelling out a lot more cash to bag a bird.

With the price of lead going up, shotgun shells and other ammunition are increasing in price.

Hunters say the cost of one box of shells has doubled from four dollars to eight.

They say by reloading spent cartridge cases can save them about 60 percent.
