ODESSA - The City of Odessa is making sure a long time lawmaker will not be forgotten.

On Tuesday morning, TXDOT unveiled the new signs for the George E. "Buddy" West Overpass.

State and local officials along with members of West's family were on hand for the ceremony at one of the sign locations along I-20, just north of the East Loop 338 overpass.

Last month, Ector County and Odessa leaders voted to name the overpass after Buddy West to honor him for his service to District 81.

West served as State Representative for District 81, which includes Winkler, Ector, and Andrews County until his death last summer.

West served as State Representative for District 81 for 15 years.

The new District 81 Representative Tryon Lewis defeated West in the Republican primary last year and served the remainder of West's term.
