Some good news for an organization that's been struggling over the summer.
CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, got a slew of new volunteers filling a desperate need.
CASA volunteers represent children in the courtroom helping to not only meet physical, but emotional needs during the process.
The Director says since our last story aired on NewsWest 9, they have eight new volunteers to be sworn in during September, they typically have 5 per class.
CASA says the number of abuse cases is through the roof and they need extra volunteers.
Not only are the number of cases up, but the severity has deepened.
Last year, CASA served over 400 children around West Texas.
