WEST TEXAS - Cash for clunkers is over, but cash for appliances is almost here.
It's a new federal program that may help you save more green on energy efficient appliances.
"I am really interested in to looking into how much money I might save need new appliances bad," Shopper, Crystal Satterfield, said.
A new 300 million dollar federal program aims to help you save on appliances when you buy energy efficient models.
"Stimulus coming up for cash for appliances washers, dishwashers and refrigerators," Clayton Hale, Owner of Family Maytag, said.
The program is expected to start sometime this fall, and unlike Cash for Clunkers, you don't have to trade in your old model.
"We haven't heard yet but I am speculating rebates of 50-250 dollars depending on what kind of appliance you buy," Hale said.
At Family Maytag in Midland, customers are ready for the incentive.
"Calls already on it even though it's not out people interested and people waiting to buy all new kitchens," Hale said.
And hopefully creating an incentive to buy for customers and more business for stores.
"Price of oil going down effects us just like everyone else. Business is good but not great, but I am thinking we are going to have a boom on appliance sales," Hale said.
