Case Against Winkler County Nurses Going to Trial

KERMIT - Two former Winkler County nurses will go on trial after a District Judge denied all motions from the nurses' lawyers.

There's no word on an official date before two former Winkler County nurses will go back to court, but prosecutors say a trial will happen. That comes this week after the County Attorney says the District Judge has overruled all motions from the nurses' lawyers.

Earlier this month, both Vicki Galle and Anne Mitchell had a pre-trial hearing in Kermit. Their lawyers had put forth four motions including two motions to suppress evidence and a motion to dismiss the case.

The Winkler County Attorney says the District Judge denied all of those motions Monday. The county is prosecuting the pair on charges of misusing county documents.

They're accused of sending private patient records to the State Medical Board to harass a doctor. The nurses' lawyers say neither of them released private information and only filed complaints against the doctor.

The Winkler County Attorney says the District Judge has lots of criminal cases scheduled before the two nurses meaning a trial probably won't happen until after September.
