ODESSA - It only took 132 bags of free school supplies was enough to get a large group of kids all riled up.
"I'm very excited and happy. God put in our hearts to do this. I didn't know this was going to be the outcome," Event Coordinator, Rose Campbell, said.
For Rose Campbell, organizing a school supply giveway was something she always had in her heart to do.
"They feel like they've been blessed. We feel like we've been blessed because we're able to help families," Campbell said.
Parents like Annie Diaz say any help from the community can go a long way especially when many are already stretching their dollar.
"For the people with low income they can't afford it. They need the help, and I need the help, so I appreciate the family who did this," Annie Diaz said.
Diaz says she's happy to see that the Campbell family is able to bring the Odessa community together and help those who need it most.
"It's hard. People are going to places like Churches for help. There's not a lot out there, but I'm glad someone's willing to help," Diaz said.
For Rose Campbell, giving school supplies to children is her way of showing that there is help out there.
"I just want people to know that there is hope. Just don't give up and God will lead you to the person that can help," Campbell said.
The Campbells' say this is the first of many give away events they plan on doing. In fact, they're organizing another one set for some time in the winter.
