MIDLAND - Lights up, cameras out, and the crowd ready to cheer. It's all part of the annual Rock the Desert Festival that many from all over the area come to enjoy.

"I think it's pretty cool. Everyone's chilling and listening to music," Alli Breshers said.

"We've been coming for 6 years now. Good music and good fellowship," Robert Petty of Lubbock said.

Rock The Desert Ministries says despite the economy, this year's event has been a success.

"Coming from everywhere. It's a unique thing, a fun event for the family," Mark Goeke with Rock the Desert Ministries, said.

Even for first timers like Debbie Walkup, the wide range of christian music was more than she expected.

"Everyone's singing about Jesus and loving him. I just enjoy singing the songs along with them," Walkup said.

Whether it's your first time out, or your yearly routine people say Rock The Desert is worth the experience.

"Come try it out. Good value for the money. Good music and there's a lot to do. I encourage people to come," Walkup said.

Rock The Desert will continue until Saturday. Doors open at 10 a.m. and will run until 11 p.m.
