ODESSA - If you dump an unwanted pet at the Humane Society in Odessa, you better smile for the camera.

The Odessa Humane Society has installed a new camera system.

It's to combat owners tossing their pets over the shelters six foot fence.

That's not only illegal; it's seriously hurting the animals pitched over.

They raised $3,000 at a fundraiser at the Sam's in Odessa to buy the system.

Eight cameras now line the fences and the Director tells NewsWest 9, anyone caught dumping will be prosecuted.

Since the infrared cameras went in, there's only been one report of vandalism and dog dumping.
