MIDLAND-ODESSA - Your old TV set that is taking up space, can now be recycled this Saturday, August 8th, 2009.
"We will load them up and then a group out of Houston is going to be breaking them down and recycling them," Patti Reaks-Collins with Keep Odessa Beautiful, said.
TV's are not usually accepted for recycling.
"An old TV has over 8 pounds of lead in it and we don't want that ending up in the landfill," Doreen Richardson with Keep Midland Beautiful, said.
Keep Midland Beautiful and Keep Odessa Beautiful are teaming up for the recycling event at the Odessa Household Hazardous Waste Facility to take your old TV's computers and other electronics.
Other towns across the Permian Basin will also participate in the event including: Big Spring, Andrews, Ft. Stockton, McCamey, and Seminole.
The service is free and a chance to recycle electronics that would otherwise have no place to go.
"We really want people to take advantage of this because you never know when you are going to get this chance again," Richardson said.
