Tough times have taken an especially harsh toll on a local girl with a serious illness, but with the help of several local aide agencies, she'll have a shot at life.
13-year-old Brittany Cardona had her tonsils out not long ago and now suffers from some painful side effects.
Her condition is so bad; she now faces even more surgeries and medications.
None of this is cheap and her family's having a hard enough time getting by as it is.
Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, Odessa Links, 211 information and Referral Services and the United Way are all teaming up to help out Cardona's family.
If you'd like to pitch in, there's a fund set up at American State Bank under Cardona's name.
