BIG SPRING - Residents and city officials in Big Spring took time to honor their past and their future.

Saturday marked the 80th anniversary of the Big Spring Airport.

The celebration included music and food, plus all kinds of vintage and modern aircraft on display.

In addition to the 80th anniversary celebration, city and airpark officials also held a grand opening of the new airport runway.

Officials say the airport's main runway is over 50 years old and deteriorating which is why they have been pushing for the new one for several years.

They say this one will be able to support larger planes.
