PECOS - A man accused of a double murder in Pecos could pay the ultimate price if convicted.

The District Attorney is seeking the death penalty against Randall Lee Stephens.

Stephens plead not guilty to the murders on Friday.

He's accused of stabbing and killing Richard and Alicia Cherry at the couple's bar, DJ's Round-Up in 2008.

Stephens was on the run for nearly a month before Alabama Police caught him at a truck stop on I-20.

So far no date has been set for his trial.

Stephens was already wanted for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to Pecos.

Last month, a judge ruled he had been in jail long enough to serve time for that crime.
