ODESSA - With the troubling economy most parents are trying to find every way to stretch their dollar especially when it comes to back to school shopping.
One Odessa family is helping out this year, by giving away free school supplies.
With a table filled with school supplies, you would think the Campbell family has everything they need for back to school.
"We're still lacking rulers, pencil sharpners, and notebooks," Larry Campbell, who's collecting school supplies, said.
Larry and Rose aren't collecting school supplies for their children.
"My kids already have everything they need. We just want to help other kids," Rose Campbell said.
They're donating to kids who can't afford to buy new school supplies for this coming school year. It's all part of their school supply giveaway event they're putting together in August.
"There's a lot of people that lost their jobs and have had a few set backs. God put it in my heart to help out," Larry said.
The struggling economy and the desire to help others, led to the Campbells to start collecting new school supplies from anyone willing to donate.
"I got 5 kids for myself. I know what it's like to have to provide for your kids when the economy isn't good. I know that some people lost jobs and might need help," Larry said.
"There is so many people in need right now. It was put in me and my husband's hearts to help people. We just want to bless people since we've been blessed so much," Rose said.
The Campbell's say donating school supplies is their way of reaching out to the community.
"I just want to show people that there are people out there who really care. If there is anyone out there who wants to help, we'll take contributions," Larry said.
"If you have it in your heart to help and God shows you, do it. You're going to be blessed beyond measure," Rose said.
