WEST TEXAS - Federal research dollars could soon be pouring into other parts of West Texas.

The U.S. House recommended funding a number of defense-related research projects, including two in our area.

That funding would provide two-million dollars for two projects at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.

One would research turning wastewater into drinking water in disaster areas or on battlefields.

The other would help reduce the size and cost of electronic components.

The issue now goes before the full House Approprations Committee.
