Van Horn Residents Worried About Power Outages

VAN HORN - Residents in Van Horn say they want more to be done after three major power outages across town in the last month.

This week, residents have been pointing the finger at El Paso Electric.

The city administrator tells NewsWest 9, in the month of June, they've had three major power outages.

They say the power was out from 7 to 10 hours and has cost numberous residents and businesses thousands of dollars.

Representatives from El Paso Electric tell NewsWest 9, the power outages happen when the lines between Fabens and Van Horn are hit with thunderstorms or other severe weather.

They say they are in the middle of a multi-year, multi-million dollar project to upgrade equipment in the area.

Residents in Van Horn hope improvements will come soon.
