Midland Man Arrested in Major Drug Distribution Bust

LEVELLAND, TX - A major meth operation has taken a big hit after federal, state and local authorities swarm a small South Plains town with arrest warrants in hand.

The multi-state sting in Texas, Arizona and California landed 23 people behind bars including two Hockley County Sheriff's Deputies and a Midland man.

The majority of those arrested are members of a motorcycle gang that is a support club of the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The Texas part of the operation began this morning in Levelland early Friday morning. Among those arrested were 33-year-old Jamie Paul Nickell of Midland and  53-year-old Gordon Clark Bohannon who is a Hockley County deputy. Both men made their first appearances in a federal courtroom Friday. Other suspects appeared before a California judge.

The remainder of the defendants will begin making their appearances early next week in Lubbock.

Authorities say the group brought methamphetamines into Levelland to be sold in the South Plains.
